Empowering Success Together
Pre- Port State Control (PSC) inspections are crucial for several obvious reasons:
1. Safety: Ensuring that a ship meets international safety standards
2. Compliance: These inspections verify that the ship complies with international regulations, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISPS Code 2.
3. Environmental Protection: By checking pollution prevention equipment and procedures, PSC inspections help minimize the risk of marine pollution.
4. Operational Efficiency: Identifying and addressing deficiencies before an official inspection can prevent unexpected detentions and ensure smooth port operations
5. Reputation: Regular compliance with PSC standards enhances a shipping company’s reputation and reliability in the industry.
The above-mentioned facts are well known and can be easily collected by ChatGPT or Copilot. The other part of the story is how to prepare the crew and the vessel to the PSC inspection. The solution will not be provided by any AI while can be easy find with resources of Never Fear organization. This is our joy and pleasure to get the opportunity to assist Managing Companies, Owners or other organization required such support.
Post- Port State Control (PSC) inspections
The Pre-PSC inspections’ aim is known within the maritime industry we offer also Post – PSC inspection. This is an assistance when the PCS report with observations/deficiencies is available. SOLAS defines the reporting obligations to the flag administration and similar requirement is introduced by ROs under which the ship is classed.
In such cases we may have few scenarios as direct contact with PSC when issues are solved or addressed with the flag administration when the flag concurrence to the measures mitigating the risk occurred are obtained or engaging the RO but how often a surveyor is not available or short term certificate(s) is requested by the RO? Rhetorical question. Not a one but many vessels wait till RO will fix the challenges being delayed or off hired. Also superintendents are busy in the other part of the world. We do not want to replace them but support their heavy duty.
Time flies and time is money.
Here we see our role to assist you directly when the PSC report is released. Having your authorization, we will prepare a solution supported by your Risk Assessment (RA) and realistic plan of repair/spare parts delivery/arranging a technician etc. The solution with necessary explanation/description to be submitted to the flag administration for their concurrence.
Once approved the dispensation letter is in our hands and we may deal with PSC as well as provide all necessary to the surveyor who may report it properly to have ships status clean.
This elaboration provides different perspective when almost all is in our hands, the flag administration has comprehensive solution to provide their concurrence, the PSC see proactive approach to their findings and the surveyor has dispensation letter available versus waiting for RO to fix all and report it within status. We may create a long list of the benefits but let it be your own initiative to judge if this makes sense.
Time saving is our favorite from the list.
All above can be done onsite, remotely or both combined if necessary.
